Once you have contacted me we can arrange a suitable time for an initial session. The initial session is an opportunity to explore why you have come to counselling, what counselling is and how it may help. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions you may have and to see whether we are suited to work together or whether a different therapist may be a better fit for you.
If you are happy to carry on with the counselling we will agree a day and time for your sessions. We try to keep sessions to the same day and time so you know you have that dedicated space just for you. However, this of course can be changed if keeping to the same day is difficult. If you decide not to continue with the counselling that is absolutely fine, you will not be under any obligation to do so.
Counselling can be either short term or long term. Shorter term therapy tends to be if you have a specific issue you would like to focus on. Longer term therapy allows deeper exploration and can be open-ended.
We would normally agree to six sessions initially after which we will review our work together to see how the counselling is progressing and what you feel you need so you are in control of how long you would like the counselling to continue. Sessions are for one hour and cost £60.
